MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORK

The Base Social Workers and counsellors will support you to explore the meaning you make of your world and the challenges that life presents. Every person’s journey is unique and is shaped by family, culture, society and lived experience. We will support you to identify your goals and existing strengths and resources. We work from a trauma informed perspective.


We provide individual, family and couples counselling across the life span for a variety of issues such as: anxiety, depression, mental health, substance abuse, workplace issues, Domestic and Family Violence, childhood trauma, complex PTSD, current and past sexual abuse, disabilities, grief and loss, parenting, and post-separation challenges.



We work within a trauma informed framework using the following modalities:

  • Mindfulness, meditation, body work

  • EMDR

  • Parts work (internal family systems, Structural Dissociation model, Resource Therapy, ego states)

  • Parenting models including Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids/teens, Bringing Up Great Kids, Anchored Parenting (based on Non-Violent Resistance)

  • Family and Systems Therapy

  • Nature Based Therapy

  • Imago Couples Therapy

  • Attachment Therapy

  • Psychoeducation

  • Somatic Therapy

  • Cognitive-behavioural Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy
