ADVENTURE THERAPY

Connection through adventure and experience. Adventure Therapy is most simply described as a field of practice combining adventure and outdoor environments with the intention to achieve therapeutic outcomes for those involved.

Climbing and exploring Glenrock, walks around the beach, shooting hoops and kicking the footy are just some of the options. “Adventure” Treatment Plans are flexible to the individual, and often combined with in-room therapy. You don’t need to climb Everest or sail solo around the world to have an adventure, it can be as simple as doing something you haven’t done before.

Adventure Therapy is particularly suited to people for whom more traditional in-room therapy is not the right fit; where therapeutic relationships have been difficult to establish; for people who prefer a more physically experiential way of connecting with thoughts and feelings, and for people who just want to try something a bit different.

Pete Clark is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who uses the mode of Adventure Therapy as an intervention and a way of taking therapy outside of the physical and figurative confinement of a counselling room. Pete primarily works with young people and their carers in this style, however Adventure Therapy is suitable for everyone.

You can use a mental health care plan for sessions with Pete.
