Dr. Caroline de Vries is the visionary founder of The Base Health and Community, an extraordinary service that has been a trailblazer in the mental health space since its establishment in March 2020. With an extensive career dating back to 1998 as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has worked in the field of mental health, both in Australia and the Netherlands. Caroline's journey has been characterised by an unwavering commitment to reimagining and revolutionising mental health care.

Responding to the observed constraints and limitations in the prevailing mental health landscape, Caroline established The Base as a departure from the norm. This unique service challenges the bureaucratic processes, hyper-focus on diagnoses, and the medicalisation of distress, offering instead a vision of connected cohesive teamwork, trauma-informed relational care, and an approach that recognises the complexity of human experiences within their unique contexts.
