Matthew Lamont
Matthew is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker who works with a range of issues that affect quality of life and well-being including depression, anxiety, psychosis, parenting stress, addiction, grief and loss, life transitions, men’s health issues and living well with neurodivergence. Matthew brings a compassionate, centred presence and trauma-informed and neurodiversity affirming approach to his therapeutic work. He is passionate about assisting people to recover their purpose and creativity as part of their recovery.
Matthew’s social work experience reaches across 27 years in mental health and family-based support settings in Western Australia and New South Wales. Matthew has fulfilled varied roles working with people experiencing mental health difficulties and in psychosocial distress including mental health clinical practice, group facilitation, therapy and supervision. Matthew’s wide-ranging experience enables him to respond sensitively to the social, family, emotional and broader life experiences that people bring to the therapeutic space.
Matthew has experience with a range of therapeutic approaches including Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Circle of Security Parenting, Interpersonal Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
As a trained Spiritual Director with long experience with contemplative traditions Matthew is also able to offer a service to people attracted to exploring the spiritual dimension of their lives and seeking greater meaning and depth.
